You Won’t Believe What’s in This Brownie!

How would you like to make a fast and easy dessert that is actually GOOD for you!  Try these GARBANZO Brownies!

No Flour! Gluten Free and low sugar.  Seriously, make them and don’t tell anyone that they are made with Garbanzo beans.  I brought these to an event last night and everyone loved them!  I haven’t tested a dairy free chocolate source yet, but I’ll do that in the next couple of weeks and post the results!

Garbanzo Brownies

Gluten Free, High Fiber and Yummy

Ingredients:

1 (19 ounce) can garbanzo beans, rinsed and drained

4 eggs

½ cup white sugar

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1 1/4 cups semisweet or dark chocolate chips

Confectioners’ sugar for dusting

 

Preparation:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

Grease and flour (with gluten free flour*) a square baking pan.

 

  1. Place garbanzo beans, eggs, sugar and baking powder in a food processor or high power blender.
  2. Melt chocolate chips into a microwave-safe bowl. Cook in the microwave for about 2 minutes, stirring every 20 seconds after the first minute, until chocolate is melted and smooth.
  3. Add melted chocolate and blend on medium/high until fully mixed.
  4. Transfer the batter to the prepared pan.
  5. Bake for 30- 40 minutes in the preheated oven, or until a knife inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Cool for 10-15 minutes, sprinkle with confectioner’s sugar, cut in squares and serve.

Additions & Substitutions

  • For lower sugar substitute Stevia/Sugar blend per package instructions
  • Add a handful of whole chocolate chips for richer chocolate taste
  • Add chopped pecans or walnuts
  • Serve warm with a small scoop of ice cream (regular, soy, coconut etc..)
  • This recipe is easy to double and make in a 9×13 pan
