Beware of Sneaky Foods – Day 21

Beware of Sneaky Foods

If you have not ever kept a food diary / journal, I encourage you to do so for at least 3 days.  You can use an app, or a good ol’ pen and paper.  Once you have kept track over everything you put in your mouth for 3 days, go back and see if you let some “Sneaky Foods” into your day.

Sneaky foods are things like a handful of nuts or chips, a piece of candy from the jar at the office, the food you nibble on while making dinner etc…

Another term you can use for sneaky foods would be “Stand-up Foods”, because you are usually standing up, grabbing a little something quickly and aren’t really paying attention to whether you are hungry or not. Because you aren’t having a meal or purposefully  planning that food item; it sneaks into your day bringing extra calories with it!

Perhaps weight loss isn’t your main goal. You might want to just feel better. Keep in mind these sneaky/stand-up foods can also zap your energy!

I am not suggesting that having a quick snack to nourish your body isn’t a great idea, I’m addressing the foods that you eat without thinking.

When I work with clients one thing that I always ask them is, “What did you eat yesterday?” I’ll ask you the same thing now – What did YOU eat yesterday?

You can start at breakfast and go through the day or work your way backwards from dinner.  Really think about everything you ate and drank – it’s seems like it should be easy but it actually if a bit of a challenge – especially if you don’t plan your meals and allow Sneaky Foods into your day.

Go back to my post on Day 3 – it will help you plan a couple of days of meals.  For the rest of this week I want you to be on the look out for sneaky foods!  THINK about what you are eating before you actually put it in your mouth!

Health & Bliss to You,

Susie
